The National Catholic Education Commission (NCEC) is pleased to sponsor the 2024 Australian Catholic Communications Congress.
With 1,756 schools educating 805,000 students and employing over 109,000 staff, Catholic education is the largest single provider of schooling in Australia outside of government.
National Catholic education executive director, Jacinta Collins, said Catholic education plays a key role in advocating for the needs of school communities including fair funding, school choice and equitable access to educational opportunities.
“With a network of diocesan, state and territory education authorities and Religious Institute and Ministerial Public Juridic Person school authorities, Catholic education has a strong presence in the public arena”, Jacinta said.
“This presence is supported by communications, public affairs and government relations personnel who work directly with education, Church and secular media, government bodies and education departments to ensure the interests of Catholic school communities are served.
“Relationship building across the Church and with our external stakeholders is a vital part of ensuring Catholic school families, leaders and staff have a voice in policy decision-making and the public arena.
“The Catholic Communications Congress provides a valuable opportunity for communications professionals to share best practice, and engage in professional learning and networking.”
The NCEC, established in 1974, is celebrating 50 years as the national peak representative body for Catholic education.
